Teaharvest: Bush Billy Tea

A uniquely Aussie brew...

Opened this tea up on Anzac day as it is by far the most #Aussie brew in my collection! From Teaharvest, it is a mixture of #daintree #blacktea mixed with #eucalyptus leaves.

As with any black teas, I brewed this quite weak (which meant I was actually able to brew the leaves a few times and still have a great cuppa!) I really enjoyed this tea, the eucalyptus leaves add some more layers to the flavor and aroma of the tea.

Eucalyptus is often used in an oil to help with congested airways associated with cold and flu's, but in tea form, is also associated with the treatment for asthma, bronchitis, and diabetes, for headaches and to treat liver and gallbladder problems. How effective it is at these if of course a big question but either way, it is definitley not a bad addition for your tea (for both taste and health purposes!)

Tea rating:

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

This is actually one of my favourite black teas!

What is Anzac day?

Anzac day is when people in Australia and New Zealand remember the soldiers who have fought and are fighting in conflicts around the world. The date - April 25 - is used as it was the day, in 1915, their soldiers landed on the beaches of Gallipoli, where they met fierce resistance despite expecting a quick win. By 1920 Anzac day was declared a national day of commemoration, and a number of traditions for this day emerged. Across Australia, commemorative ceremonies are held at dawn - to reflect the time when the soldiers landed on the beaches, while service men and women march in towns and cities across the nation.

People also bake Anzac cookies. Originally made by mothers and wives of serving soldiers to be sent abroad, these cookies are a mixture of rolled oats, desiccated coconut, golden syrup, flour, butter and sugar. They are deliciously (especially when fresh out of the oven) so definitely worth giving a bake!
