Temple Lion Tea: Burmese Ginger

'I didn't choose the Ginger life, the Ginger life chose me.' Now although this quote may be about red heads rather than ginger itself I love it!

I am a HUGE fan of Ginger tea - whenever I feel a little under the weather its my go to drink for some vitaminy goodness!

Packed with goodness, ginger is believed to have a number of health benefits and in addition to boosting your immune system; provide pain relief; prevent cancer, heart attacks and blood clots; lower blood pressure and cholesterol and more, which is a pretty impressive list!

I usually make ginger tea at home with some fresh ginger root as its super simple:

Step One: Peel around a thumbs length of fresh ginger and chop into large chunks

Step Two: Put in a pan and cover with 250ml of water

Step Three: Tun on the hear, and bring to the boil. Then turn the heat down and allow it

to simmer for 5-15 minutes depending on how spicy you like your drink!

Optional: serve with a slice of lemon or a ash of honey.

Because I like that stronger flavor, I often find that ginger tea fro a tea bag, or made in a cup lacks a lot of flavor so I wasn't sure what to expect from this Burmese ginger tea!

When you open the packet, the tea has a lovely fragrance, with the spiciness of the ginger coming through quite strongly! (Always a good sign!)

To brew this, I used a heaped tsp of ginger in my tea pot, added hot water and let it sit for several minutes to brew and infuse with flavor.

And infuse it did!

I was really impressed by the flavors that come out in this! It was much richer than I expected and had the kick you can expect from ginger! I was also able to re-infuse it in my teapot, and although slightly weaker the second time round, it had a lovely flavor still.

Definitely a quicker option than boiling on the hob, and still a great taste of gingery-goodness!
