Bamboo Tea

Decided to steal Panda's food for the day and try some Bamboo Tea!

Although spoiler - the tea isn't actually made from Bamboo!

This is a #greentea made from buds, and it has a very light, soft flavor. As it is a green tea, I didn't want to use boiling water so as to make sure the tea didn't become overly bitter and so used water at 85°C.

The water didn't really change color - it remained almost clear throughout each of the brews, but there was definite flavor coming through! The tea wasn't bitter, even on longer brews, and it had a nice softness to it which made for a pleasant drink.

So where is the tea from?

The tea is from Emei Mountain in Sichuan province, China. It is a UNESCO World Heritage site, and is one of the four Sacred Buddhist Mountains of China - there are 30 temples across the mountain area and it is associated with the Ashram for Samantabhadra Bodhisattva. If you are travelling in China it is a really beautiful place to visit, with peaks reaching to over 3000m, smoke clouds drifting through the landscape and great routes for hiking (although the monkeys on the mountain can chase you especially if you have food out!)
