When I saw this was today's #tea I was a little nervous, as I am not a big fan of #earlgrey. I know that earl grey teas can vary dramatically from tea to tea due to the type of tea used, and the type and amount of #bergamot, but the ones I have had before have either been too #floral or even #tart in taste with the bergamot, and some have definitely had poorer quality black #tealeaves meaning its not the nicest to drink!
But of course that wasn't going to stop me trying this one!

Today I decided to make a break from my traditional #gongfu brewing style, and try out my *new* infuser and glass mug! I have been after a glass mug for ages as I love to be able to see the colors of the tea as it infuses but had been delaying buying one as the Amazon delivery was very slow and they weren't cheap online. Luckily I found one in-store yesterday so I can now live out my tea dreams!
So back to the French Earl Grey...
As soon as you open this tea, the aroma hits you, and it has a perfumey vibe to it which reminds me very much of Earl Grey. When brewed, that aroma lasts a little, so the perfumey smell doesn't interfere with the taste which is great!
Within seconds of adding hot water to the mug, the tea had turned a deep golden color - and as I don't enjoy #blacktea strong, I removed the tea infuser quite early.

Surprisingly, I actually thought this was a lovely brew! The different flowers added to the tea created a soft flavor, but without a superficial floral aroma which you could expect. The taste does remind me of Earl Grey, but I found it much more pleasant and drinkable - and as I had only done a short infusion, I even brewed the tea again for a second mug!
So how does this differ to Earl Grey? Rather than bergamot, this tea contains hibiscus, sunflower petals, rose petals and mallow flowers. 🌹🌻🌺
