Review: "Darkest Fear" by Harlen Coben

One of many books featuring Myron Bolitar, Darkest Fear is an adventure that takes you into FBI investigations, unsolved murders, and difficult family decisions. Faced paced and full of twists, it will have you sat down until you've read the last page!

I really enjoyed this book. Full of action, surprise twists (although the synopsis does give away the whole shock discovery that Myron has a child) and intrigue.

The main character, Myron, was really well written and I found myself hoping that there were more books featuring this guy. (I've since looked it up, and yes, yes, there are lots of these books - so looks like I have more stuff to add to my reading list!)

This isn't the first book in the series about Myron, but its still easy to follow without having read the others. Although there were time where I felt there were past little stories I was missing - such as to do with his ex, Emily, his friends and his business, it did not make the book confusing and it was still really easy to follow.

The story was action packed, with new revelations and complications keeping the story going and the reader on edge. As the story goes a simple man-hunt for a missing donor becomes a dangerous game of trying to stay one step ahead of the FBI and a murderer.

Typically, Myron manages to stay one step ahead of everyone else, finding information that others couldn't, getting on the wrong side of the FBI who had already written off people whose help Myron needed, and of course, solving the mystery of several murders and the missing marrow donor.

Overall, it is an enjoyable read for anyone who enjoys books that have mystery, police investigations, and unexpected twists.

The book is easy to read and fast paced and I found myself finishing it off super quickly!

Synopsis:

Life isn't going well for Myron Bolitar. His business is struggling and his father has recently suffered a heart attack when, out of the blue, Myron's college sweetheart, Emily, appears.

Her thirteen-year-old son Jeremy is gravely ill and can be saved only by a bone-marrow transplant from a donor who has vanished without a trace. Then Emily revels even more shocking news: Jeremy is Myron's son, conceived the night before Emily's wedding to another man.

Staggered by the revelation, Myron plunges into a search for the missing donor - and gets caught up in a brutal kidnapping and a cat-and-mouse game between an ambitious reporter and the FBI
