Review: "The Great Chocoplot" by Chris Callaghan

🚫 🚫 Warning 🚫 🚫:
This story contains a threat to chocolate which some viewers might find disturbing

Synopsis:
It's the end of chocolate - for good! A chocolate mystery ... At least, that's what they're saying on TV.
Jelly and her gran are gobsmacked - they love a Blocka Choca bar or two. But then a trail of clues leads back to a posh chocolate shop in town owned by the distinctly bitter Garibaldi Chocolati.
Is it really the chocopocalypse, or a chocoplot to be cracked?

Overview:
Jelly is just a normal girl living in a chocolate obsessed town. Chocolate is served everyday (my idea of heaven) and most of the town works in the Blocka Choca factory which supplies the UK with delicious chocolate.
But one day the town is turned upside down, when the news announces within only a week, chocolate will disappear forever!
As Jenny and her gran search for the answers to the looming chocopocalypse, she discovers that there is something strange about Mr Garibaldi and his disgustingly bitter (and hugely overpriced) chocolate treats!

Overall:
Get a bar of chocolate ready before you read this book because it will have you craving some without a doubt! Although I didn't find this book as gripping as some other kids books, it is definitely perfect for youngsters - especially the chocoholic ones!
The characters are well-written and easy to relate to, and I think children will enjoy the simple and believable adventures Jelly and her gran go on.
On top of this, I thought the book setting was super realistic. Her family life, although extra whimsical for poetic effect, reflects the life of many families today. Moreover, the descriptions of school, and use of social media are things that reflect what many youngsters experience meaning they will find themselves lost in the pages!
